Jenga 7.0: the Final Block

As part of Jenga 7.0 we were to design and make three models as part of our final presentation. Our group "Portmanteau" decided on a detail model of one of the furniture pieces we designed for the public spaces, a detail model of one of the atriums in the larger building, and a gestural model of the exterior as a whole. I was involved in the creation of both the gestural exterior model, and the detail model of the atrium with the help of my classmates Dajana, and Kara.

In our final groups of twelve people I was charged with the task of producing two hand rendered site plans in order to place the building we designed within the context of the surrounding buildings in Wellington, New Zealand, which was our site of choice.

It was also during Jenga 7.0 that we were to revisit our individual unit as a part of the cohesive structure that is our building.

This is an image I drew on the chalk board for our final presentation. The graphic on the left displays the method we used as team "Portmanteau" to join our two different design ideas into one cohesive building. The portmanteau of the project occurs in the joining of the slender vertical elements and the from my previous groups project with the substantial C-shaped solids from the other groups, "Emerge", previous project. The second image on the right is a larger reproduction of the sketch that marked our initial idea for the structure, that I also created.
